SSI Advisor Honored with Texas EXcellence Award

Jillian Kozlowski, Student Success Initiatives Senior Academic Advisor, was honored by Texas Exes as a 2019 recipient of the James W. Vick Award for Academic Advising.

On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, Jillian Kozlowski, Student Success Initiatives Senior Academic Advisor, was honored by Texas Exes as a 2019 recipient of the James W. Vick Award for Academic Advising. Nominated and selected solely by students, Vick Award winners are recognized for improving the experiences of students at The University of Texas at Austin through outstanding advising.

“I am so humbled by the amazing students I work with every day. My hope is that I always provide a warm and welcoming environment where each student feels empowered to make informed decisions about their education, and I could not be more honored to receive this student-nominated award.”

Jillian’s award was presented as part of Texas Exes’ inaugural Texas EXcellence Awards, which honored UT students, faculty, and staff. In addition to the Vick Award, Texas Exes also presented:

  • The Tejas Club Campus Leadership Award
  • The Edward S. Guleke Student Excellence Award, which was given to University Leadership Network alum Marilu Sanchez in 2017
  • The President’s Leadership Award
  • And the Jean Holloway Award for Excellence in Teaching

Jillian has worked for Student Success since December 2016 as part of the Monitoring Advising Analytics to Promote Success (MAAPS) team, which in 2018 won a National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) award. NACADA recently accepted the MAAPS team’s presentation on texting in advising for their 2019 national conference, which also was presented at the inaugural Student Success Symposium earlier this year.

“We are so excited that Jillian has been honored with this award. She has a long history of supporting students in their journey at UT, and to have her students nominate her affirms what we already know: She’s a spectacular advisor,” said Dr. Cassandre Alvarado, Executive Director of Student Success.
