Connecting Scholars to Opportunities
Incoming freshmen with excellent academic credentials and high financial need are selected for our most prestigious Presidential Scholars program. Students are awarded an annual scholarship as well as additional funding to participate in an enrichment program during their four years at UT Austin. They are also part of a community of scholars, which provides additional networking opportunities for the students. Presidential Scholars are enrolled in all the colleges and schools within UT Austin and may also be members of honors programs and other university organizations and communities.
"Through the Presidential Scholars program, our students grow professionally and personally, becoming leaders who help maintain our university's reputation as one of the best public research universities in the world."
- Gregory L. Fenves, President, UT Austin
Presidential Scholars receive $5,000 scholarships per year during their four years on campus. In addition, a $1,500 Individual Opportunity Scholarship is available for these students to provide them with an experiential learning opportunity, including study abroad, internships and research projects.
Presidential Scholars are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and complete at least 30 hours of coursework each year to remain eligible.
While we encourage the majority of these hours to be taken at UT Austin, Presidential Scholars can use AP, credit-by-exam, transfer credit hours in order to add up to the 30 hour requirement.
