The Best of Both Worlds
What if students could attend small classes in a supportive learning environment, yet at the same time gain access to game-changing resources available only at a world-class university whose mission includes both teaching and learning — education and research. In a partnership between The University of Texas at Austin and Austin Community College (ACC), students have the opportunity to do just that.
The program, PACE - Path to Admission through Co-Enrollment, is offered to selected students who applied for admission to UT-Austin.
How PACE Works
Participants take the majority of their classes at ACC, plus one course per semester from a pre-approved list of courses at UT Austin. Students are Longhorns from day one. When they have completed both fall and spring semester program requirements and maintained the required grade point average, they are then able to continue their undergraduate studies at UT Austin without having to apply for admission.
Cross-coordination between ACC and UT Austin ensures a seamless experience. With smaller, group-tailored classes at ACC, and exposure to the unique educational opportunities at UT Austin, PACE students can expect the rigor of coursework at both campuses to remain consistent and uncompromised.
Access to Resources
Granted full-time student status at ACC and UT Austin, students are integrated into life on both campuses through program-specific academic and student-life support services. They have access to dedicated teams of advisers at both places whose job it is to ensure their success. Students receive financial aid through UT Austin and are eligible to apply for housing at UT.
A Defined Path
PACE provides a clearly defined way to earn a bachelor’s degree from the UT Austin College of Liberal Arts. Once enrolled, students have two long semesters (fall and spring) to complete 24 hours of in-residence transferrable coursework at ACC and a total of 6 hours in residence coursework at UT. Students must maintain a 3.2 cumulative GPA at ACC and a 2.0 cumulative GPA at UT Austin. Students who meet program requirements are able to continue to work toward a bachelor's degree from a pre-approved list of UT Austin courses without having to apply for transfer admission.
